Thank you Aaron Draplin
This man, people. This man.
Though he may look like a bear of a man or a modern lumberjack or some sort of modern-lumberjack-man-bear, Aaron Draplin of draplin.com is just a great graphic designer that instinctively doesn’t fit the mold. His smart design sensibilities evoke American graphic design at the height of its modern industrialist style. We are lucky that he took the time to wax prolific for us young impressionables at Gas a few days ago.
Draplin is the sole proprietor of Draplin Design Company, where he works with 3 other people doing anything from print to web design. He’s done designs for snowboard companies, musicians, and clothing companies. This man has his hand in every graphic design cookie jar and it shows in his work.
Sometimes the man scours the web and the actual REAL world in search of inspiration and then has the audacity to share it!
You should become familiar with his Flickr sets. This one is a collection of vintage United Nations envelopes, for example. The world’s longest yard sale photo set also deserves a gander.
I’m out of words for now, but thank you Aaron Draplin for divulging a bit of your life’s experience.
Also, thank you all for reading.
