a light tap can cause serious damage.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tdelapaz @ 12:53 pm

Us Gassers work in a very exciting area where ANYTHING can happen. One minute your just walking down to get coffee and the next A LIGHT POLE CRASHES DOWN out of nowhere. Well, not really out of nowhere… a light pole crashes when a big van “lightly taps it”

Not going to lie. All of Gas were upstairs snickering behind a window and capturing it all for your viewing pleasure:

A friendly passerby possibly concerned… but probably not.

Our very own Kenny and Brian come down to check out the scene.

“So, what happened here?”

“It was a light tap”

“That’s one hell of a tap.”

Brian overlooking and protecting it all.

poor guy.

Yesterday’s 7th inning stretch was bowling. Just for the record, I did cheat…I threw a grenade instead of the bowling ball (which should explain the explosion of pins.) We are all witnesses…

Blog attempt numero uno!

Filed under: Entertainment, General, Marketing Communications — Tags: , , — nspagnola @ 3:11 pm

Hey everyone!

My name is Nick Spagnola and as long as the budget cuts don’t force an elongated work furlough or some other plausible nightmare, I will be the new Marketing and Communications Student Manager at Gas Creative Group.

Before I start this attempt at a witty intro blog, I want to give a shout out to my friend and predecessor, Brittany Spangler. Aside from the plastic clock she received from ASI, she will be getting these parting words from me as a graduation present (Sorry Brit, I’m broke).

But from what it seems, she has done an amazing job here during her reign and I have some very big heels to fill. Thanks for everything Brit; if I can help Gas progress half as much as you have, I’ll be pleased. Also, I’ve started to embrace the “new-Brittany” nickname that has been attributed to me, so everyone can feel free to continue that trend.

Now, my first impression of Gas: wow! My excitement level is seriously through the roof. The office itself just reeks of a fun but productive environment, and the people occupying it are obviously close, but extremely welcoming. The mesh of diverse personalities and a ridiculous amount of talent creates this haven of creativity and ingenuity that I hope to call home for a long time.

Hearing about ASI marketing in the past, while being able to read through some of the current idea reports, just goes to show how far this group has gone, and the potential for more genius that still remains. I hope to be able to really open up the campus community to the awesomeness that is Gas Creative Group.

Furthermore, I am going to heed Andrea’s orders and try to start writing for the Gas blog a little, so hopefully you will hear from me in the near future. For now, I’m going to get back to a potential new campaign (yea, get excited) and the process of “customizing my workspace” (Does it count if I’m just borrowing backgrounds from Martin and adding stills from YouTube videos that make me laugh? Hopefully).

I want to hear from you, so please contact me at marketingmanager@asi.csupomona.edu with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Ciao!

Blog, blog I say….

Filed under: Uncategorized — Andrea Tinchinda @ 3:40 pm

When we first started this blog, we had a team meeting to discuss who would be in charge of making sure we posted on a regular basis. After much discussion, we finally decided to form a blog committee. They would be the ones to kick everyone in the butt and get them blogging. The conversation then lead to everyone putting in their two sense about things like, what kind of topics to blog about, should we have photos of the day, what about illustrator tutorials…blah, blah blah. One thing everyone did agree on was that we would ALL contribute.

Well…….let me formally thank those on the team who have contributed to The Refinery. And to those who have not, WHY NOT???? Hurry up and blog already! Blog, blog I say!!

Now, for your viewing pleasure. I bring you our first ever

So to help us keep our sanity over the summer the cool kids over at RPM (Recreational Sports,

Programs and Marketing) are holding 7th Inning Stretch every Wednesday from 3:45-4:00 pm.

Departments will go head to head in everything from horseshoes to food eating contests.

This week’s event: MUSICAL CHAIRS OF DEATH

Of course there was plenty of trash talking.

[That's Shelbi (Campus Rec) in the back pointing & trying to psych out the other departments.]

It took awhile but after numerous rounds….

It came down to 2.   Eric A. (Gas Creative Group) & Gema (Campus Rec)

The winner…………..ERIC A. (Gas Creative Group)

It’s that time of year again…graduation season. Such a bummer because we aways have to say goodbye to our senior gasers. Some have been with us for 1, 2, 3…4 years!! Ok well maybe not that long, but still it’s always bitter sweet. Thanks for all the great memories guys! We know you’ll all knock them dead out in the real world. Don’t forget to visit us! We’ll miss you!

xoxo

Hand cut, folded, and assembled one by one for the scavenger hunt during Midnight Madness last week. Finding each of these guys would score you some free stuff. Someone came up on an iPod with that ninja.

And some 90’s nostalgia…
